My Growth as
a Teacher

Teaching has always been a valuable part of my life. Growing up in Pasadena, CA,  I attended a small local school from Pre-K through 12th grade. Throughout middle and high school, I volunteered in local elementary schools. I loved seeing the kids become more confident in their reading, writing, and math abilities.

I built on this foundation at The George Washington University in Washington D.C., where I received my Bachelor's degree in Radio and Television, with a minor in English Language and Literature. As a teacher's assistant in the Radio and Television Program, I most enjoyed working one-on-one with my peers to help them with their audio and video projects. This experience motivated me to pursue additional certification and become a teacher.

I earned my Multiple Subject Clear Credential, with an Authorization in English Instruction, from California State University, Los Angeles. I became a 3rd and 4th grade teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and later at a local charter school.

The experiences with my students further galvanized me to earn my Master's degree in Elementary Education from California State University, Northridge. After this, I taught Pre-Kindergarten at the same neighborhood school my younger son attended. This was a great opportunity to teach my students the fundamentals through interactive lessons.

I have served as a parent volunteer at both my sons' schools, primarily assisting in the reading fluency program for kindergarten through 5th-grade. My time with the kids and their parents soon led to after school tutoring for children in reading and math.

I have been working as a tutor for families in the San Fernando Valley since 2018. I look forward to the opportunity to work with your family as well.

My Commitment
to You

I tutor in all elementary subjects, as well as English Language Arts and English as a Second Language (ESL) for all levels. I strive to develop enthusiasm among my students, so that they are motivated to complete their best work and continue their learning beyond our sessions.

Your tutoring experience will be engaging and I want you to be actively involved in your learning. I will support your strengths and address your needs to help you achieve your goals.

Feel free to contact me for a session. I'm happy to work one-on-one or with learning pods/small groups. We can discuss in-person meeting options at the Los Angeles Public Library Mid-Valley location or virtual meetings on Zoom.
